Hutzel Women's Hospital hosted its third annual Speaking of Women's Health Conference on Friday, Sept. 17 at the Detroit Marriott Renaissance.  Over 1,000 Metro Detroit women enjoyed a day of luxury and pampering while learning how to make informed decisions about their health, well-being and personal safety.  With the generous support of WXYZ-TV 7, Magic 105.1 FM, Detroit Marriott Renaissance, General Motors, Grigg Graphic Services, University Laboratories, Morgan Stanley, University Women's Care, Harper University Hospital, Credit Union One, Sodexho Healthcare Services, Gunn Levine Architects, CORI Centers, Palindrome Video, Bob Stewart Photography and the Steering Committee, attendees enjoyed three dynamic keynote speakers, breakout sessions facilitated by nationally renowned experts, a fabulous lunch, health screenings, massages and incredible gifts!

Honoree Recognition Luncheon
Friends for Life Award, Community Investment Grant, and Gift Basket Drawings

Hutzel Women's Hospital recognizes a woman who has helped another woman make a positive long term change in her health, well-being and personal safety.

Wendy Jager was nominated by her co-worker Margaret Forbes, for her unwavering support and encouragement to help her overcome a difficult period in her life.  Maggie credits Wendy with restoring her self-confidence and for giving her a new outlook on life.

Wendy currently works at the dermatology office of Kathryn H. Sussman, M.D., in Warren, Mich.  She and her husband Tom have two children, Andrea, 31 and Amy, 22, and one grandson, Jacob.  They have been married for over 35 years.

Community Investment Grant - Health Emergency Lifeline Programs

In conjunction with the Speaking of Women's Health conference, Hutzel Women's Hospital supports grass roots organizations that have enhanced the quality of life in our community through efforts in the fields of women's health, well-being and personal safety.

The Recipient of the 2004 Community Investment Grant is Health Emergency Lifeline Programs (HELP) a non-profit community based organization that assists people affected by HIV and AIDS throughout Metro Detroit.  HELP provides services to promote health and stability to HIV-positive people and their families.  Its programs support over 1,200 people annually with housing, utilities, food and nutrition, prescription medication coverage, medical supplies and other important needs.
