Cardiac and Vascular Medicine
Cardiac services & vascular surgery have greatly advanced at the Detroit Medical Center. In fact, the first heart pump used in open heart surgery was introduced here. In addition to new and innovative surgical techniques that help prevent stroke, repair vertebral arteries at various levels and repair or prevent other heart and vascular conditions, the Detroit Medical Center offers extensive diagnostic and rehabilitative services. All of this care is backed by
specialists who practice throughout the Detroit Medical Center. The installation of a new
cardiac catheterization lab at Children's Hospital of Michigan has moved the
care of children with critical heart and circulatory problems into the next
century. The Detroit Medical Center also offers a multidisciplinary program for the treatment of
adult congenital heart disease, where pediatric and adult
cardiologists partner in care of the patient.
The Detroit Medical Center's cardiac and vascular services will continue to offer the most
advanced developments in the diagnosis and treatment of heart disease,
cardiac malfunctions and arterial and vascular disease.
